Organization/Storage Tip: Makeup

(My First post without crappy cell phone pictures. YAY!)

For today's post I am going to share with you guys how I store my makeup and makeup brushes. This is just what works for me. Hopefully it will give some you guys some ideas on how to store your makeup products also.

The photo above is what the top of my desk looks like. The leopard print box was a jewelry box. I took all the drawers out and laid it down. That way there are 6 openings for me to put things in. I store all my everyday makeup in this. I really like it because everything is just right there. The little openings are organized into categories; Lips, Concealer, Foundation/Face Primer, Powders, Eyes, Eyebrows. I keep my e.l.f. lip exfoliator on the left corner and my Maybelline Vivids in Pink Pop on the right corner (because I think the packaging is cute!).

I purchased these little "containers" at the dollar store. They were each $1. My eye brushes are in the square ones along with my lip glosses. I purchased silver sand filler(it honestly looks like tiny rocks, not sure why it was called sand) at Walmart for around $4 to fill the "containers" with to keep my eye brushes in place for a Sephora inspired brush holder. I keep my face brushes in the round "container".

My desk is not an even surface. The right side is higher up (printer ideal desks). On this side I keep my skincare, my makeup mirror and this plastic organizer. I purchased this at Target 3 years ago when I was buying things for my dorm room freshman year of college. This just holds the rest of my makeup. In the back section I have my e.l.f. brush shampoo and daily brush cleaner along with some face masks and extra foundation and liquid liners.

This is the section the lifts open. I store all my lipsticks in here. There are 16 in there. That's all that fits in there. I really want to get a lipstick holder so that I can display all my lipstick.

This is the first drawer. I keep all my eyeliners, jumbo eyeshadow pencils, lip liners and my color tattoo in here.

This is the second drawer. I keep all my bronzers and blushes in here. I own a lot of e.l.f. bronzers and blushes. My favorite bronzer is the N.Y.C bronzer in Sunny. That is not in this drawer because I wear it everyday.

The last drawer is where I keep all my eyeshadows. I have a ton of the Wet N' Wild color icon trios. I really like them. The color pay off is great! I also have a good bit of e.l.f. shadows in there also.

That is how I store my makeup. I really like my storage system. It works really well for me and the size of my collection.

How do you store your makeup?

Hello! Goodbye!

Say HELLO to my new Nikon CoolPix camera and GOODBYE to crappy cell phone pictures!
YAY!
I am so excited that I got a new camera and can't wait to use it for the blog! I was using my cell phone to capture pictures for my posts. This was really holding me back especially with tutorials and styling posts because I could never get good pictures with my cell. Now I don't need to worry about that!
Now that I have this camera I will be doing more makeup tutorials, some styling posts and anything else I can think of.

So stay tuned!

Foundation Update/Review!

In July of last year I did a post about a foundation that I had purchased. The Sephora Instant Radiance Foundation. I wrote about my first impressions of the foundation. I promised an update and here it is! The reason my update post is so long after my first impression post is because I didn't really start wearing the foundation everyday until about last month. Now I can really give my thoughts about the foundation.
Let's get started!

The shade I wear is 28 Medium Camel. It comes with 20ml of product for $22. Not going to lie I am still not too thrilled about the foundation being $22. I have recently just found out that they discontinued this foundation. I was definitely bummed when I found out because it took me forever to find a foundation that worked with my skin and had a good shade match. Looks like I will begin my foundation hunt once again.
However, this foundation works really well on my skin. As I have mentioned before I have very dry sensitive skin and usually have really bad eczema. The color match is almost perfect(I think I may have been able to go a shade darker). I say this because my skin is discolored. Lighter in some areas, darker in others due to eczema scarring.) It does not irritate my skin whatsoever!  The foundation lasts all day long. I love the pump. I know some people don't like foundations with pumps but I like it because it helps me control how much foundation I want to use rather than pouring it out. One pump is enough for me to cover my face. The coverage is definitely build-able. It blends really well and does not give the look that I am wearing foundation. I've seen a lot of people say that it's light weight and I agree with that but you can feel it on your skin. (if that makes any sense!)
I apply this foundation with my e.l.f. studio powder brush (love that brush!!).

I top off my foundation with the Rimmel London Stay Matte powder. I am in the shade creamy beige.

As I mentioned I will have to start my foundation hunt again because my foundation was discontinued. I recently picked up the Rimmel London Clean Fresh foundation for $2.50 at K-Mart. I picked up the color 430 Soft Honey. I will be trying this foundation out to see if it works with my skin and if the color match is good. I will let you guys know what I think about it.
P.S. I wore it all day yesterday and let's just say I am liking it so far!

What brand of foundation do you wear?

Til next time!
