Beauty Through The Decades: 80s!

Holy cow! I actually have a picture up for this post! YES! I finally found my camera and cord and had some free time to finally participate again!

Today my lovely guest blogger is Patricia from Beauty Informer! We are rocking some 80's looks for you guys today! Let's get started with Patricia's look.

Patricia says "I kept true to the vibrancy of the 80's and used my 88 color palette from Coastal Scents to achieve the look. I used a blue for my lids and pink in the crease area. I then used an orange shade above the pink and highlighted my brow area with yellow. I used a bit of the blue, orange and yellow  under my eyes too."

"For my face, I used some primer, a foundation, and some blush and contour powder.
I followed this up with a light coat of mascara and pink lipstick and liner.
Notice my side ponytail with the blue band to match the eye shadow ;)"

I love Patricia's look! I love that it is still completely wearable! Make sure to stop by her blog Beauty Informer

I was definitely excited to do an 80's look because, well, I love bright colors! I really went for a bright obnoxious look. It may not be everyone's cup of tea and may not be "wearable" for everyone lol. I consider it wearable, and I actually do normally wear my eye looks like this. My mom always says I should have been born in the 80's!

I used an e.l.f. brightening eye quad in Punk Funk and a Rimmel London ScandalEYES eyeshadow pencil in witness white to achieve this look. I took the scandalEYES eyeshadow pencil and applied it all over my lid and lined my lower lash line with it. I applied the pink shadow from the quad all over the lids and the purple in the crease. I lined my lower lash line with the blue shadow in the quad. It is a very quick and easy look!

Hope everyone enjoyed this beauty through the decades post! Next week I'll be rocking the 90's with another guest blogger! Don't forget to stop by Patricia's blog, Beauty Informer!

Beauty Through The Decades: 50's!

It's that time of the week again! Beauty Through The Decades. This week is the 50's and my guest blogger is Stephanie from Elegant Rebel Beauty! Let's just jump right in with Stephanie's look!

Stephanie said  "My initial plan when I snagged the 50's was to go with the iconic Marilyn Monroe look, but the more I thought about it the more I realized what an obvious choice that was, and I wanted to do something a little more unexpected.
I chose this Lucille Ball look, which was a promo for her classic show I love Lucy. The show first aired in 1951, and Lucille's portrayal of a strong-willed, mischievous housewife with a penchant for slapstick humour catapulted her into super-stardom.
She made such amazing headway for TV actresses in wife roles, who up until then were cast to basically just stand there in the kitchen and look pretty. She was outspoken and funny, which was such a huge and courageous statement for a woman to make at that time. It also doesn't hurt that her flaming red locks make her my ginger sister!"

Get The Look

Face: She applied Revlon colorstay whipped creme makeup in ivory, in two coats, to get that flawless, matte finish, followed by Painted Earth HD concealer in fair.

Eyes: She started with an off white matte (Painted earth mineral eye shadow in Toast) all over her lid to her brow bone. She added Painted earth mineral eye shadow in polished copper over the lid halfway to the brow bone. In a windshield wiper motion, she added a medium matte brown (Key botanicals mineral shadow in Hazel) to just above her natural crease, to create a higher, exaggerated crease. She then added Chickaboom jet set gel liner in black to her upper lash line, very thin from the outer corners and gradually thickening the outer half. She swept Hazel on the outer half of my lower lash line. Quo falsies and Painted Earth super lash mascara in black finished the eyes!

Brows: She drew thin, high arches with big curves, using Painted Earth super wear felt tip brow liner in blonde.

Cheeks: just a little sweep of Painted Earth baked blush in Rose Gold for subtle rosiness.

Lips: She drew a heart shape, adding two half circles above my upper lip, and a larger half circle on my lower lip, avoiding portions of the lower lip on each side, which she had applied concealer to (to make my bottom lip look longer and more narrow, which creates the bottom of the heart shape). She used Essence lip liner in Red blossom. Then she added Essence lipstick in Red carpet.

Doesn't she just look gorgeous?! Absolutely love the heart shape effect she did with her lips!

Make sure to head on over to Elegant Rebel Beauty to check out Stephanie!

I just want to apologize now for my photos. I have been EXTREMELY busy to the point where I almost forgot to do my look :/ I didn't have a lot of time to do my look and take pictures so they aren't the greatest and I feel bad.

When I was thinking of my 50's look I had no idea what I wanted to do. Stephanie sent my a picture of Liz Taylor so that was the look I was going to try and recreate! It was out of my comfort zone because of all the eyeliner. I can't wear that much eyeliner because my eyes look extremely small and weird!

I used a thin coat of the Rimmel London Clean Finish Foundation in Soft Honey. I used the black  e.l.f. cream liner to line my upper and lower lash line and my water line. My eyelashes are naturally pretty long so I applied a few coats of my Wet N Wild Megalength mascara to enhance them. The one thing I was happy to see what Liz's thick eyebrows! It was very easy for me to do that since my eyebrows are already pretty thick! I use the e.l.f. brow kit in dark to fill in and shape my brows. Lastly for the red lips I used the Wet N Wild megalast lipstick in Red Velvet.

I again want to apologize for my photos!

I also want to thank Stephanie for being apart of the series! I loved your look. Make sure to visit her blog Elegant Rebel Beauty.

Next week we will be visiting the 60's with another guest blogger!

Beauty Things I Suck At Tag!

Hello everyone! Today I am going to do the Beauty Things I Suck At Tag! I have been extremely busy lately so I haven't really been able to prepare any looks for tutorials. But after next week I should be back on a regular schedule of posting. I have watched so many YouTube Beauty Gurus do this tag and I  think it is so much fun. So here are the beauty things I suck at!

1. Natural Curly Hair
I naturally have very very curly hair. I am mixed (Italian and Black). I straighten my hair every week because whenever I want to wear my hair curly naturally it just doesn't happen. I have pretty curls when it is wet but that is a different story once it drys! Not cute! I just can't seem to figure out how these girls get their curls to stay so pretty and bouncy all day. I need to go on a hunt for hair product that will work in my hair. That's also something I have an issue with.

2. False Lashes
It just doesn't happen. I recently wanted to get into wearing lashes so I purchased so e.l.f. lashes since I don't know what I am doing and didn't want to spend a lot on them if it wasn't going to work. I did purchase the Ardell lash glue because I have heard the glue that comes with the e.l.f. lashes is no good. No matter what I do I can't seem to get the lashes to stick! Pretty sure they just hate me. I have even watched tutorials on how to apply them and I still can't seem to do it. I guess I will have to keep practicing!

3. Winged Eyeliner
I can do winged eyeliner great....on one eye. If I get one eye "perfect" the second eye always looks terrible. It never fails. That or the wings are COMPLETELY different! Therefore I just hardly ever do winged eyeliner even though I really love the look of it!

4. Concealing my Under Eye Circles
This could have to do with the fact that I am absolutely TERRIBLE at choosing concealer. I have tried like 5 different ones and they were useless on my under eye circles and a few just made them look gray and cakey.

5. Picking Foundation Shade
I HATE shopping for foundation, mainly because I can't pick the right shade to save my life. I find that in brands that don't have a huge selection of color I always seem to be a tad too dark to the darkest light shade and too light to the lightest tan shade. Makes no sense! I have been suggested to try the loreal true match because of the shade selection so I think that I am going to give that a try. I am just not good at judging what my shade is. I went to Sephora to get foundation and the girl was trying to match shades to my face and she was also having a hard time. "Your not completely yellow but your not completely olive either" is what she said to me.

Those are some of the beauty things I suck at!
What are some things you suck at?

Beauty Through The Decades: 40s!

It's Monday! Are you ready for today's Beauty Through The Decades post?! Today's look is from the 1940's featuring Siri from Scribbled with liner as the guest blogger! Make sure to stop by her blog, have a look around and say hi! I was excited for the 40's look because finally a decade where my eyebrows aren't an issue! They did not need to be pencil thin for this look.
Let's start off with Siri's look.

Doesn't she just look lovely?!

Here is a list of products she used to achieve this look.
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadows: Foxy, Walk Of Shame, Naked2, Tease
  • 24/7 Eyeliner in Zero
  • 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion
  • Naked Skin Foundation
  • Ardell Sweeties Lashes
  • Clarins Minute Eclat Brush-on Perfector
  • The Balm Balmbinis Palette/ Downboy, Hot Mama
  • Makeup Store Lipliner in Burlesque and Lipstick in Pout
  • Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light
  • Guerlain Cils d'Enfer Mascara in Noir
May I just add that her hair is adorable! My hair was not liking the 40's style!

For a full tutorial click here to head on over to Siri's post.

My look

For my 40's hair I tried to do the bold side bang they had going on but like I said my hair just wasn't digging 40's style because it did not want to corporate at all! For this look I wanted to keep it super natural with the shadow and really let the brows, lashes and lips have the spotlight. I just used a light tan color on my lids. I did not define the crease with any colors. Just a swipe of eye shadow and that was all. I used a liquid liner to create a winged looked. I filled in my brows the way I normally would with my e.l.f. eyebrow kit. Of course for my lashes I packed on my Wet N Wild Megalength mascara. I naturally have pretty long lashes so I used multiple coats just to exaggerate them.

I used a bright pink blush by L.A. Colors in blushing pink. For my lips I used a red lip liner all over then I added one coat of Revlon's Colorburst lipstick in Coral on top. For some reason my lipstick looks a little pink in the first picture.

Don't forget to head on over to Siri's blog Scribbled with liner and check out her 40's post!

Next Monday I'll be rocking a 50's look with another lovely blogger! Stay tuned!

Beauty Blog Challenge: Day Twenty-Five!

Favorite Body Lotion

I chose my Mango Body Butter from The Body Shop. I got this for Christmas a few years ago and I really like it. Mainly because it doesn't irritate my skin or eczema and it smells great! I can't use scented lotions on my eczema but I can use scented body butters. Not quite sure of the logic behind that I just know from experience lol. This body butter is for very dry skin which is also a great plus, is is super moisturizing.

What is your favorite body lotion?

Favorite Lipstick

I know I know. I was supposed to pick my favorite lipstick but I love these so much I wanted to just pick the brand! These are the Wet N Wild Megalast Matte lipsticks. I love these. I am really into matte lipsticks. They can be a little drying so I put a little but of lip balm on under them. They last a very long time and the pigmentation is amazing. As well as the price of $1.99 each!!

Beauty Blog Challenge: Day 20!

Favorite Mascara

It is not secret that this is my favorite mascara! This is the Wet N Wild Megalength Waterproof Mascara. I use this ALL the time. I used to use the regular one that wasn't waterproof and I loved it so when I found out they finally had a waterproof version I was ecstatic! This mascara makes my lashes nice and long and separates them perfectly. It doesn't clump on my lashes. I apply this to my top and bottom lashes. Definitely a holy grail product. I can't even tell you how many tubes I've gone through.

What is your favorite mascara?

Beauty Through The Decades: 30s!

Now I'm not gonna lie I had a pretty hard time with this 30's look. It wasn't easy finding pictures on Google. From what I gathered they kept it pretty natural on the eyes with some type of red lip. A lot of the looks I found the lid color was almost the same color as their skin tone how ever I don't have a shadow that's the same color as my lids so I went with a matte taupe-y color.

I used a matte taupe color on the lid. For the crease I used a matte brown that was only a few shades darker. I didn't want it to be really dramatic. I didn't put anything in the outer corners. I used a liquid liner for the my top lash line. Unfortunately I couldn't do my brows like in the 30's because they had they tiniest penciled on eyebrows and my brows are pretty full there was nothing I could do. For my lip I used a berry red lip liner all over my lips.

I tried to really make my contouring darker than usual for this look. I used the bronzer from the e.l.f. blush and bronzer duo because it is a fairly dark bronzer. For my blush I used Peachy Keen by e.l.f.

Next week is the 40's and I have a guest blogger that will be participating !

I still need a guest blogger for the 70's, so if you would like to do a 70's look please let me know!

Fashion Pieces that are on your Wishlist

Jeffery Campbell shoes! One day I will own a pair. I love his shoes they are so unique and fun but the price tag is not pretty!

Printed leggings! I am a huge fan of printed leggings but don't own many.  These are from WetSeal. Photo is linked to where you can purchase them on the site.

Skater dresses! I do not own any skater style dresses but I really like the cut of them. I definitely want to add a few to my wardrobe this summer. These are also from WetSeal. Photo is linked to where you can purchase them on the site.

As you can see I don't have too many things on my fashion wishlist because I haven't really been looking at clothes lately. I have been too busy and broke lol!

What's on your fashion wishlist?!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Contouring

I would like to believe that I am getting better at contouring haha. Lately I have been using this e.l.f. blush and bronzer duo a lot. I clearly love the blush! However when I first got this I really didn't like the bronzer. I thought that it was too dark. But I have been working with it lately and found that I actually do like it.

What have you been loving lately?

Photo of a Hairstyle/Haircut that you currently like

Faux Hawks! I have really been loving them lately. I would love to get my hair cut into a faux hawk but knowing me I would hate it a week later when I have to style it myself lol. That's how I am every time I get my hair cut. Plus I would probably cry if I cut that much hair off! I am trying to get my hair to grow!

What hair style/ cut have you been loving lately?

Beauty Through The Decades: 20s!

It's finally here! The first installment of the Beauty Through The Decades Series! Every Monday will feature a look from a different decade done by myself and a guest blogger. Today's guest blogger is the gorgeous Maria of Amriaa's Blog!

Maria's Look:

Maria tried this look out with two lipsticks. The first (darker one) is a Max Factor lipstick in 685 Mulberry and the matte red shade is actually a red Avon lip pencil that she used all over her lips.

For her eyes she used a Jade Starlights palette. She believes there are 20 colors in the palette. She used a champagne for her inner corners and beneath her brows, a brown in the crease and a bit upwards and a glittery black on the lid. All the colors in the palette are shimmery.

Doesn't she just look absolutely gorgeous?!
Be sure to head over to Maria's blog here to see her post!

My Look:

For my lips I used a Wet N Wild Megalast lipstick in 916D. I used the e.l.f. blush and bronzer duo for contouring and Wet N Wild Reserve Your Cabana for my highlight. (My camera and lighting did not want to corporate with me for these pictures!)

On my lids I used the Rimmel ScandalEYES eye shadow pencil in witness white as a base. I then used the shimmery off white color from the Wet N Wild ColorIcon Lust palette all over my lids and under my brows. Also from that palette I used the silver shadow for my crease and outer corners. I then used the crease color from the Wet N Wild Spoiled Brat trio. It is a shimmery black. I used this color to define my outer corners.

20's makeup was just absolutely stunning wasn't it??

Huge thanks to Maria from Amriaa's Blog for being apart of the series! Your look came out amazing!
