Beauty Through The Decades: 80s!

Holy cow! I actually have a picture up for this post! YES! I finally found my camera and cord and had some free time to finally participate again!

Today my lovely guest blogger is Patricia from Beauty Informer! We are rocking some 80's looks for you guys today! Let's get started with Patricia's look.

Patricia says "I kept true to the vibrancy of the 80's and used my 88 color palette from Coastal Scents to achieve the look. I used a blue for my lids and pink in the crease area. I then used an orange shade above the pink and highlighted my brow area with yellow. I used a bit of the blue, orange and yellow  under my eyes too."

"For my face, I used some primer, a foundation, and some blush and contour powder.
I followed this up with a light coat of mascara and pink lipstick and liner.
Notice my side ponytail with the blue band to match the eye shadow ;)"

I love Patricia's look! I love that it is still completely wearable! Make sure to stop by her blog Beauty Informer

I was definitely excited to do an 80's look because, well, I love bright colors! I really went for a bright obnoxious look. It may not be everyone's cup of tea and may not be "wearable" for everyone lol. I consider it wearable, and I actually do normally wear my eye looks like this. My mom always says I should have been born in the 80's!

I used an e.l.f. brightening eye quad in Punk Funk and a Rimmel London ScandalEYES eyeshadow pencil in witness white to achieve this look. I took the scandalEYES eyeshadow pencil and applied it all over my lid and lined my lower lash line with it. I applied the pink shadow from the quad all over the lids and the purple in the crease. I lined my lower lash line with the blue shadow in the quad. It is a very quick and easy look!

Hope everyone enjoyed this beauty through the decades post! Next week I'll be rocking the 90's with another guest blogger! Don't forget to stop by Patricia's blog, Beauty Informer!

Collaboration with Elegant Rebel Beauty: Khloe K Inspired Makeup!

So today I was honored to be apart of Stephanie's, from Elegant Rebel Beauty, Try this look Tuesday. If you are unfamiliar with Try this look Tuesday here's what happens. Every week Stephanie partners up with another blogger to recreate celebrity looks. She chooses a celeb look for the blogger to recreate and photograph and vice versa. This week I tackled a Khloe K look and Stephanie dominated a Deborah Ann Woll look!

~Deborah's look~

I chose Deborah because she just really reminded me of Stephanie. Between the hair color and the facial features I thought it was a look that she would be able to pull off well. I really thought the colors in the look would compliment Stephanie just as well as it complimented her.

~Stephanie's Recreation~

Stephanie did an amazing job replicating it to a T! It looks great with her hair and brow color! Absolutely love this replication! She looks gorgeous!

Make sure to head over to Elegant Rebel Beauty for the post to see more on this look from Stephanie.

~Khloe's Look~

~My Recreation~

Stephanie says: "I chose this Khloe Kardashian look for Ally because something about Khloe’s smile reminded me of her. I was pleased to learn that Ally loves purple and had fun with this look. Isn't her eye makeup cool? And she totally nailed Khloe’s awesome brows! Thank you so much Ally! You’re beautiful!"

I loved my look! Purple is my favorite color and I love doing bold looks so when Stephanie sent this picture to me I was beyond excited to replicate it! I did do a few things different so that it would compliment my eye shape better. Khloe had eyeliner top and bottom and that doesn't look well on me. This was an amazing experience. I am so glad Stephanie contacted me to participate in this collab. It is such a wonderful idea. I've never picked a look for someone else to replicate so it was a fun first time for me. I loved working with Stephanie on this!

~Products I Used~

Sephora Palette (Colors I used have a box around them)
Wet N Wild megalength mascara, waterproof
Rimmel London ScandalEYES eye shadow stick in Witness White
e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner in Punk Purple
e.l.f. Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft nude
Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Peach Petal

~Tutorial~

Apply the Rimmel London eye shadow stick everywhere you are going to put shadow. The lid, crease and a little above. Apply the light purple in the inner corners and the dark purple everywhere else. Work with it until you get the shape that you are going for with your shadow. I always go for the cat eye look because it is my favorite. After you want to take the light purple and dab it on top of the dark purple. I did this to lighten up the shadow. Take the e.l.f. cream liner in punk purple and line your lower lash line with it. Then take the dark purple shadow and go over it to set the liner. Apply the Wet N Wild megalength mascara to your top and bottom lashes. Take the baked blush in Peachy Cheeky and apply a generous amount on the apples of your cheeks. Lastly apply the Revlon lipstick in Soft nude then a cost of the Revlon lipgloss in Peach Petal on top.

Voilà!

I just want to say thank you again to Stephanie for letting me be apart of Try this look Tuesday. It was a great experience and I had loads of fun. Stephanie will be doing a 50's look for the Beauty Through The Decades series so stayed tuned for another collab between us!

Make sure to head on over to Stephanie's blog Elegant Rebel Beauty to check out the other lovely blogger that was apart of today's Try this look Tuesday and to see the other look that Stephanie recreated!

Beauty Blog Challenge: Day Five!

Favorite Makeup Brand

For my favorite Makeup brand it would be between e.l.f. and wet n wild! They are both great brands that are extremely affordable. I must say that I tend to have more luck with wet n wild products when it comes to hits rather than misses. However e.l.f. is stepping up their game. I would have to say my makeup collection is equally made up of both of these brands.

What's your favorite makeup brand?

Would You Rather Tag: Makeup Edition Take 2!

I was tagged by Notorious Beauty Blog ! I did this tag last august but I am going to do it again! Make sure to check out Notorious Beauty Blog she has became one of my favorite beauty blogs! She has great posts, so head on over and check her out!

Now for the tag! Let's get started!

1) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
-I would have to say lose all of my palettes and eyeshadows. At least I can still have a decent face with just mascara, eyeliner, lipsticks and lipglosses lol

2) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
- I would rather never be  able to cut it again. I used to have long hair and then I went on a hair cutting spree when I was in high-school. Now I can't get my hair to grow past my shoulder!

3) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
-Definitely a coral cheek. Coral blush looks better with my skin tone, a lot of pinks are not that flattering on me.

4) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
- I would have to say this is a tough one! I think I am going to say makeup! There are a lot of high end brands that I would love to try but I cannot justify spending that much money for makeup products! Which is why my makeup collection is only drug store (minus my sephora foundation).

5) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
- I would rather apply eyeliner as a lipstick! I just couldn't imagine applying lipstick as an eyeliner, that would be difficult and would most likely look terrible!

6) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
-Definitely Sephora! I have never tried any MAC products but at least if I could only shop at Sephora I would still have access to many brands unlike at MAC

7) Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
- One lip color! I really love to do lots of different eye looks which require way more than one eyeshadow! I could just use a nude lip color as my one color, that way it would match with everything!

8) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
-  This is a tough one because in either situation it's not a fun time! I guess I would chose my winter clothes in the summer since that's only jeans and a hoodie. I couldn't imagine wearing shorts and a tank in the middle of winter! Hello frost bite and hypothermia ! Lol.

9) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
-Bright nails! They are just so much fun!

10) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
-My favorite lip product. I only recently got into lip products so it wouldn't brother me as much to give up my favorite lip product.

11) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
-Messy bun! They are super cute, plus I don't like the way I look in a ponytail. It does not suite my face.

12) Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
-Never use lipgloss again, I have way too may bottles of nail polish! Plus I really love painting my nails. I am not allowed to have nail polish on my nails for work and it is killing me ! So I know never being able to paint my nails again is not an option!

13) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
- As much as I would suck at it, I would rather sharpie them in everyday. I couldn't imagine walking around with no eyebrows!

14) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
- As much as I love my nail polish I would give it up for my makeup! I couldn't imagine not having any makeup!

I tag all of you guys!!

Farewell Lip Butter :( !

So in light of the heat we are experiencing I thought this was an appropriate post! Yesterday my mom called to warn me that it was going to get hot and that I should turn the A/C on when it gets too warm in the house. Needless to say I didn't turn it on until it was about 80 degrees in the house! I know, I know. What was I thinking, waiting for it to get that hot! Well last night while I was watching t.v. I decided I should take a look at my lipsticks and make sure none of them were sweating from the heat they had been in. All my lipsticks looked fine, thank goodness!

The one I was most worried about was my Revlon Lip Butter (in Tutti Frutti) because they melt easily. So I turn up my lip butter to find that it wasn't sweating! YAY! Then it took a turn for the worse. I went to turn the bottom for the lip butter to go down. Well the piece it sits on went down but the lip butter didn't move!!! My mom suggested that I lightly press down on it to set it in place then stick it in the fridge. Well here's what happened when I went to lightly press my lip butter back into place.

No matter how lightly I pressed it just all bunched up! Trust me it looked worse than this at the end (so bad there was no saving it and it was thrown away). This heat has ruined one of my favorite lippies! Now I must go purchase a new one! Can we say Drug Store shopping trip?!

Stay cool today!

Make-up Madness: e.l.f. cosmetics essentials collection !

Let's jump right in!

1. Custom Compact

  • I personally really like these compacts. I've given them as gifts and the people loved them! The compacts themselves are only $1 and so are the refills! You can put eyeshadows and lip products in them. The colors I have are Ivory, Wheat, Peach fizz and Dusk. They are very pigmented and worth the $1. These compacts are definitely one of my favorite products and a HIT !
2. Flawless Eyeshadow Quads
  • These are only $2 each and are apart of some of the newer products. I was excited when I ordered them cause they made me think of the Wet n Wild color icon trios. I have two quads in the colors Smokey and Party Purple. Honestly I was disappointed when they came. Only some of the colors are pigmented. There are some colors that no matter how hard you rub your finger in the color it does not get any darker. Because you are only getting 4 colors is some are not working it's pretty much a waster of money. In my opinion these are a MISS.
3. Brightening Eye Color Quads
  • These quads are only $1! I own 2 in the colors "Punk Funk" and "Teal Dream". The two I own are very pigmented, but once again there is the problem where at least one color in each quad are pretty much not usable. They do tend to get a little chalky also. However, they are very good for travel because they are so small. I think this product is a HIT or MISS product. You either get a quad where all the colors are usable or you don't.
4.Glitter Eyeshadow
  • These singles are only $2. I have the color "Night Owl". Mine is extremely pigmented! The color is very pretty. This product is a HIT. ( If you own other colors let me know what they are like).

1. Eyeshadow Duos
  • These duos are only $1 each. Unfortunately I don't know what the color names are because it was a gift set that was $5 (set came with a brush/eyeliner duo). These are great for travel as well! I like these a lot. Out of the 8 colors there is only one that lacks a bit in pigmentation. This is definitely a HIT!

1. Primer Eyeshadow
  • These are $2 each. I own the color "Misty Mauve" . It is very pigmented and I like the color just as it is. I would rather just wear it as it is rather than under another shadow. HIT!
2. Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils
  • These are also $2 each. I own the colors "Like a Boss", "French Lace" and "Midnight Rendezvous". When they came out with these I was very excited because I don't live near an Ulta so I could never get my hands on the NYX ones. I personally like these pencils. I use mine as eyeshadow bases. They do tend to crease a bit but I have that problem with a lot of cream shadow products. The only color I was unhappy with was "Midnight Rendezvous", it wasn't as dark as I was expecting it to be. All and all I think these are a HIT.

1. "Midnight Rendezvous" 2. "French Lace"  3. "Like a Boss"  4. "Misty Mauve"

1. All Over Color Sticks
  • These are only $1 each! I own the colors "Lilac Petal" and "Pink Lemonade". These all over color sticks can be used for anything: Blush, Lip Color, Cream shadow, etc. I purchased them with the intentions of using them as blushes. They are true to color and pigmented. They aren't that hard to work with blending wise. The only down fall, and it's a really weird down fall is that they literally smell like a bowl of Fruit Loops. LOL, seriously they do. Besides the smell this product is a HIT!

1. Hypershine Gloss
  • These are a $1 each. I own "Flirt". I used to have a bunch more but recently threw them out when I was spring cleaning my makeup. The way I was storing them cause some of them to leak :(. These are great products, the color selection is great, and I love pairing them with lip sticks as well as wearing them alone. HIT!
2. Lip Stain
  • The lip stains are $2 each. I own "Crimson Crush". I love reds but feel that I look funny in them. As far as this color, I love it! Pigmented, stays on for a long time! As for this color I say HIT!
3. Lip Stick
  • These lip sticks are only $1 each. I only own one in the color "Classy". However my mother owns a few colors and she loves them! The color pay off is great. I would say HIT !
3. "Classy"  2. "Crimson Crush"   3. "Flirt"
______________________

1.  Make-Up Brushes
  • These make-up brushes are only $1 each! I love these brushes! The quality is good for only being a dollar. I don't really have any problems with shedding while washing them. I own around 20 or more brushes. These are definitely a HIT!

All in all when it comes to e.l.f. I believe its always a hit or miss. Someone could have the same product as you and have no problems and yours could just be terrible. I think e.l.f. is a great company that provides wonderful products for even greater prices!

Stay tuned for the next installment of Make-Up madness featuring more e.l.f cosmetics, studio collection!

*What products would you recommend or not recommend from the e.l.f. essentials collection?*
