Homemade Chili!
Awhile back when I was on Sugar Crumbs ( if you don't read her blog you should definitely head over there!!) she posted a recipe for slow cooked Chili and I have really been in the mood for Chili lately so I went back on her blog just to find the recipe! Head on over there to see the original base recipe for this Chili ( you have to go in her posts from January 2012). I changed it up a bit to fit the way I like my Chili, so that is what I will share with you. My modified recipe!
Ingredients
- 2 Pounds of ground beef (not pictured)
- 2 (16 ounce) cans of Kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans of Basil,Garlic & Oregano 'flavored' diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (15 ounce) can of tomato sauce
- 1 (8 ounce) can of Rotel zesty tomato and green chili sauce, mild
- 1 meduim onion, chopped
- 1 yellow pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
-For the garlic cloves I just used the minced garlic that comes in a jar, it tells you on the jar how many teaspoons ~ a garlic clove-
- Cook ground beef in skillet until no longer pink, drain. Combine all ingredients in crock pot and cover, cook on high for 4 hours (or on low for 8-10 hours)
DIG IN!
I apologize for my crappy pictures.
Ta-da! This was the bowl I ate for dinner! We paired the chili with white rice and corn bread! We have lots of left overs so i'll be having chili for lunch tomorrow!
- 2 quick notes. In the end I added some hot sauce and a tablespoon of Goya Sofrito to make it alittle spicy!
Now go ahead! Run to the kitchen and whip up a huge pot of chili! It'll go great with this chilly weather we are having ;) see what I did there, lol.
Til next post!
